Representative Experience
Brian represents many business clients in corporate and commercial transactions, advising on governance issues, and on corporate litigation. He is legal counsel to Pictou Landing First Nation, advising on governance, treaty, business, tax, trust, energy, fisheries and environmental issues. Brian also acts as legal counsel to several not-for-profit organizations including the Nova Scotia Multicultural Association, the Islamic Association of Nova Scotia, the Cape Breton Islamic Association and L’Arche Halifax. He has conducted trials and hearings before all levels of court in Nova Scotia, both the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Brian has also appeared before a number of administrative boards, tribunals, fatality inquires and public inquires including the Westray Mine Public Inquiry.
On a Personal Note
Brian has served our community in various capacities, including as a member of the executive committee for the CBA, National Aboriginal Law Section. He has also held the position of director of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, the Chairman of L’Arche Halifax Society and the Chairman of the Education Committee of APTLA. In his spare time he enjoys running, surfing, coaching basketball and browsing art galleries.
