Continuing Care Association of Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting

June 11, 2018

On June 8, Noella Martin, Q.C., Will Russell and Nicole Heelan spoke at the Annual General Meeting of the Continuing Care Association of Nova Scotia (CCANS) at the Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre. CCANS is an independent organization that represents over 50 long-term care facilities across Nova Scotia.

This year’s presentation covered a number of topics including resident debt collection, dealing with feuding families, addressing issues involving resident care including medical assistance in dying (MAiD) and effective admission procedures. A number of legal updates were also provided on key issues of particular interest to long-term care institutions.

Wickwire Holm’s Long-Term Care Law Practice Group, the only such group in Nova Scotia, focuses on providing legal services for institutional clients such as nursing homes and residential care facilities.
