Jim is a member of our Corporate, Commercial, and Bankruptcy / Insolvency services areas.
Jim joined us from the provincial Department of Justice where over 16 years he provided legal counsel to a number of government’s departments and agencies for matters ranging from the preparation of legislation and regulations, to negotiating and drafting intergovernmental agreements and other contractual arrangements. Jim has been general counsel to a number of the province’s crown corporations and regularly provides opinions and advice concerning the affairs of government.
Jim assisted government with the negotiation of the first Offshore Strategic Energy Agreement; assisted with the negotiation of fiscal agreements between the Province and Canada concerning offshore revenues; assisted with the contractual arrangements for the exploitation of the Fundy tidal resource; drafted renewal electricity regulations including those permitting feed-in-tariffs; and assisted with the preparation and drafting of provincial budget legislation.
